We love movies. In fact we love movies so much that we spent endless hours trying to make the perfect movie companion app. But there are other apps out there for this, you say. Yes, and even free apps? But when we took the decision to develop Cineast we had another idea. We wanted something less cluttered and more stylish with just the right information needed in place. We wanted to make an affordable app that worked on your iPad as well as on your iPhone or iPod touch with the same beautiful interface and functions. And here it is: Let us introduce you to Cineast.

The Source

To build an app like this we needed a good source of information, themoviedb.org was our choice. It's a free and open movie database. Completely user driven by people like you. TMDb is currently used by millions of people every month and with it's powerful API, also used by many popular media centers like Moovida, XBMC, Plex, MythTV and MediaPortal.

The Functions

With Cineast you can easily find what you're looking for. The app is divided into four main areas of functionality, namely Search, Favorites, Trailers and About.

Search

Use the Search area to quickly find Movies or Persons. Just enter what you're looking for, and boom, Cineast will present the result, with a search score, for you in a table view. Dig deeper by tapping on the found entries and get detailed information about a particular entry.
Watch trailers (when available), posters and images. Mark the movie or person as a favorite so you can find it easily later on. On the detail page you can dig even deeper into the information tree by tapping a row in the Cast, Crew or Filmography sections. Power! There's also a search history button in the search bar so you will have your complete search history just one tap away.

Favorites

Keep your favorite Movies, Persons and Trailers in one place just a tap away. You know the drill. If you have plenty, you can easily filter favorites based on their kind.

Trailers

Watch the latest trailers. Get useful facts like the release date and information about runtime, cast, rating and genres. A Trailer can also be added to your favorites so you can easily watch it again whenever you like.
