Solving Problems

In MovieGallery you have an extensive built in Help section at your fingertips. Here we have gathered some questions and answers that may occur while you explore all the possibilities in MovieGallery.

• Can I add a Flash movie with extension .swf?

Yes, no problemas.

• Why can't I add a Flash video with extension .flv?

Flash video is a proprietary format and there is no free Flash video component for QuickTime around.

• I added a Flash movie, but why can't I share it with the web templates?

The QuickTime plug-in in your browser can play a Flash movie only if it's extension is .mov. Select Flatten & Fix Extension in Share mode.

• Why can't I add all my brilliant JPEG pictures?

MovieGallery supports moving media like QuickTime movies, QTVR, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, Flash movies and some AVI-formats.

• But I've seen shared galleries on the net with slideshows. How did they do it?

Slideshows can easily be saved as "movies" in several applications like iPhoto, Graphic Converter, iView Media, QPict, PowerPoint, Keynote, and PhotoToMovie.

• Do DivX-movies work in MovieGallery?

Yes, if you have the DivX QuickTime Component, which is a plug-in.
Get it from:
http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/.

• I changed the title and copyright information on a movie in my gallery. Does it affect the original movie?

No! MovieGallery only "reads" the original movie, so whatever changes you make will not affect your original.

• What type of Internet connection do my friends need to watch my shared gallery?

The default web template is optimized for a DSL connection. However, a modem or ISDN user may also watch your movies, it just takes longer.

• I have a huge gallery. Now I want to modify it. Do I have to go through the sharing process again?

No. MovieGallery has a built in synchronization engine which is smart enough to recognize which movie to recompress/flatten or not. As long as you use the same web template, the same sharing name and the same location for your shared gallery - it's not a problem.

• I have published my shared gallery with a Modern Web Blue template. Now I want to change and show the world my masterpieces with the Modern Web Purple template. Do I have to do it all over again?

Yes. Each template requires its own sharing process; it doesn'ät matter if it's a web template or a Mobile Phone 3GPP template.

• I know a little about templates. Can I modify the default templates?

Yes, feel free to do so. You can find them in the Template section. Please read the instructions!

• I have made a new template that is really nice. Can I share it with others?

Oh yes! And if you want to spread the word, send us the template or give us a link and we will put it on our homepage.

• I've just shared all my DVDs, like Pulp Fiction and all the Godfather movies, with a Modern White Web template and now the FBI, CIA and their lawyers are hunting me. What can I do?

Run, baby, run!
